Well written wonderful story. Good characters, sad events, suspense, run away emotions, love and uncertainty. When Pilar's husband Elliott has a heart attack and dies she is devastated and lost. His son Trace returns home when he learns of his father's heart attack. Elliott was quite a bit older than Pilar, but she loved him with all of her heart. Trace had been strongly attracted to her from his first meeting her so he kept his distance from his father and stepmother to avoid problems. Good story
I like Janet Dailey and most always enjoy her books. I was sad to learn she died last year. If you like Janet Daily books the Calder Series is a must read.
It is almost an accident that I even read this book. I read in the newspaper that the author had recently died. When I discovered that she was a romance novel writer, I was curious. I am a man who is a fan of Sandra Brown. So I selected one of her novels at random. While I would not put her on a par with Sandra Brown, l enjoyed the book very much. I will definitely read many more of her books. I say try it. You will enjoy the fresh perspective offered by the setting in Nebraska and an intriguing plot that takes place on a cattle ranch. Her style is very easy to read and the plot flowers a good pace.
Yes this is an older book. I first read it when I was in high school I loved it then and love it now. A good read. Janet Dailey never disappoints.

She makes you feel as if you are there with the characters. I recommend this book to anyone who enjoys reading romance novels that are real.
